I agree with you. They seem to like to change the character of our pubs by taking the old-style pub signs away and then doing bland paint jobs on other parts of the building too.

It is in part due to the big chains taking over old pubs and giving them a "makeover" - "modern" or "cool", anything to get away from working class identity and tradition.

Bright bold signs are seen by the snotty modernist as being crude.

It's all part of the self hate sickness.
