Unfortunately, I was so frazzled from lack of sleep that I got lost in Salisbury and missed the X5 by seconds.
The next bus necessitated changing at Marlborough, where another bus pulled in with Swindon on the front, so I settled myself up top, thankful that I would soon be home.
I was a little puzzled when we seemed to be taking a different route out of town, but it wasn't till we were out in the countryside again that I realised the sun was on the wrong side of me. We were heading back towards Salisbury!
I resigned myself to having to spend the night in the bus shelter at Pewsey, but the driver kindly offered me a lift back to Swindon in his car. So I did get home that night after all.
