fiddler in Cornmarket Street

Oh! Coming across a fiddler on the street (in Basel, Switzerland) was how at 21 years old I got connected with a Scottish group Ossian, travelling with them as they toured Switzerland and Lichtenstein! Why oh why aren't all those people stopping to listen!! This fiddler is really good. Thanks so so much for this - a delight and a happy memory brought up for me.

That's them! I have a concert tape I should put up one day. Maybe need to check with surviving members to make sure it's okay (and figure out how to make it work, is it on cassette tape still? hopefully i already digitized it). Sadly, TonyCuffe, the singer passed away a long time ago. His voice has a wonderful quality for that music.

That one is so wonderful! Love the music he created. While I love normal violin, I do also love an electric one, especially played like that! I once saw a master class in piano playing and they talked about how you can watch a piano player and tell who's really into it by that fact that they move with the music as they play - this man has that in spades.

You must know the Kronos quartet? We saw them way back (and many times since) when they were starting out and leading the way for classical groups to move through time and bring life back to the string quartet. This piece was their encore. In this video people already had heard of them doing this, so they are responding possitively as soon as they say the name, but we saw them before that so it was a complete delightful surprise.

I didn't put this on the other video because I couldn't figure out how to say it all in verse! (but I did make my sad attempt over there - would have been better if my husband, the actual poet, had helped me...)
