There was an old chap with no bat in,
Who liked to be chatting in Latin.
He was so full of gas,
But he did it with class,
And his sheets were of finest satin.

This old chap remembers barely 1% of his schoolboy Latin, but impresses people to this day when he quotes this: "In Sneffels yoculis craterem ken delebat umbra Scartaris Julii intra calendas descende, audas viator, et terrestre centrum attinges. Kod feci.", something he memorised at 13 after reading "A Journey to the Centre of the Earth", particularly when it comes out on cue, as on two occasions in recent years while touring in Iceland.
