'Dean Ngaire Woods said she hoped the new building would become "one of the landmarks of the city". She said, "We are very happy with the result, and the architects have worked hard to make it sympathetic to its surroundings."
The reality is that there's no attempt at making it sympathetic to anything.
Please, Mr Blavatnik Philanthropist, could the local residents have some more trees here, to mask the effect of your monster building and bring a little birdsong back to their lives?
The more popular opinion is that it looks like a gasometer.
BBC News shows Dean, Ngaire Woods, hilariously enthusing on how this dreadful building compares to the shapes of the Sheldonian, and how the "beautiful honey-coloured stone"
(i.e. those rings around the glass) are the colour of Oxford stone...
Sounds like a severe case of Architectural Delusion Disorder!
See if you can spot the difference.

But the good news is Blavatnik didn't win it.
