There's no dingy effect on this, though the contrast is very low. This is because my monitor at that time was too dark, making me think that the picture needed lightening. It was only 4mp.

I'm not blaming the tool, because my little 4mp camera was working fine. It was the monitor on my computer that was too dark, causing me to think that the photos needed lightening.

Pity. It's good practice always to keep the original versions of everything. But it's still possible to improve this by darkening it slightly and raising the contrast in PhotoShop. I myself would also restore some detail to the sky between the trees, but that's less straightforward to do.

Haven't got time at the moment, as I'm still sorting out my albums (long job).
There was no "detail in the sky" as it was a sunny pre-lunchtime walking south-east.
It simply needs the contrast upped.

Completely empty sky isn't good, pictorially, so I myself would add some detail, even if it's just a pale blue colour wash to match what's visible through the tree branches. The image within the frame also needs to be straightened - rotated about 5 degrees clockwise.
