I haven't been back this way in a while, but with the high price of scrap metal ... I suspect the rails are gone. Railroad land contracts vary, but in many cases the land returns to the farmer once the rails are removed and they will leave the rails to preserve the right-of-way ... even though they would have to be replaced to be used again any ways. A lot of these right-of-ways are becoming bike paths.

The treatment serves the abandoned tracks quite well Norm. Good use of the old rail bed for those who bike ... so much safe and more interesting than being n the roads really. :)

The bike trails are nice, but I think letting the railroads go away are a huge mistake.
