Sweet Hitchhiker

I was photographing this female Cabbage White butterfly, but it wasn't until later that I noticed there was another very tiny insect in the picture. An insect known as a Thrip was hitching along with the butterfly.

I wonder if the butterfly was a local or if it went all the way through to the thrip's desination?
