Quantock Hills.
Walford's Gibbet, (pip)
November colours in a late afternoon capture from Walford's Gibbet, on Somerset's Quantock Hills,
A place with an uncomfortable history, a brief summary below.
John Walford was born in the Parish of Over Stowey on the Quantock Hills.
A charcoal burner John was something of a local celebrity. He was friends with the diarist, Thomas Poole who wrote about John, as did Wordsworth and Coleridge, who also lived in the village,
He murdered his wife after an argument, John's trial took place at Bridgwater Assizes on 18th August 1789. When he was found guilty and sentenced to death.
At the point of this image he was hung, with his body then placed in an iron cage and left to hang for a further 100 days before burial.
The pip is the road sign at the place of the murder, It's still called Dead Woman's Ditch !
I wish you a safe Friday and a good weekend,,,,,,,,,, Large view, perhaps.
Quantock Autumn!
October on Somerset's Quantock Hills and a late afternoon walk in peace and quiet along the popular Lydeard hill ridge,
The fence is to keep free roaming ponies from the step drops into the Vale otherwise the area left as semi wild habitat.
A large view is probably best for detail and clarity!

Almost an Ex Bench!
Another view from Lydeard Hill looking across the Vale of Taunton Deane captured just as the light was beginning to fade and mist gathering.
Somerset Autumn
Colour in the trees and Bracken on the Quantock Hills in Somerset!,
A large view perhaps
Misty Vale View,
It's autumn, the Bracken and Trees are tuning colour while in the vale fields are ploughed ready for winter crops, This is the vale of Taunton Deane from near the top of Lydeard Hill (1198 ft 365m) on Somerset's Quantock Hills, Through the mist and in the distance are the Brendon Hills and beyond them, it is possible to glimpse small parts of Exmoor National Park, but this will need a large view.!
Pip, Bracken in Sunlight!

Woodland Autumn.
A walk in Bincombe Woods on the Quantock Hills in Somerset,
I prefer a large view,
Autumn Green
The lack of foliage allows light to the lower branches and the woodland floor, Lydeard Hill in Somerset.
Autumn Pathway
Red berries and golden leaves on the Lydeard hill ridge path,
Large view may be beneficial
Through the Hollow
Another autumnal image from the Lydeard Hill Ridge path, a great walk in a walk in any season.! HFF.
Better large in my opinion
