Shades of Brown,

After days of constant rain silt from the many rivers that flow into the Bristol Channel has turned the water brown. However the colour suits the dereliction that is Birnbeck Island and it's pier that links it to the mainland. The good news is that a group which includes North Somerset Council, Historic England and the RNLI,who were forced to abandon the lifeboat station on safety grounds in 2008. have now bought the whole complex with a view to restoration, but what a job that will be. (pier built in 1867) The island of Flat Holm complete with lighthouse (rear left) and the coast of South Wales in the far distance. Large please, Wish you HFF and a safe weekend.

Down Train,

Running down from the shed and passing the water tower to reverse onto its train at Platform 2, Bishops Lydeard on the West Somerset Railway, This locomotive has been converted from a 2-6-2 tank engine and has proved to be an admirable performer and very well suited to the line.

As the sun drops below the horizon and another day draws to close leaving the tide to ebb out of Bridgwater Bay until the morning tide arrives, and another day dawns, HFF and good, peaceful week.

Harbour Road, HFF

Latheronwheel Harbour, (previously called Janetstown) The Burn of Latheronwheel and bridge over the burn (see pip), This bridge probably dates from the mid 18th century and has a single segmental arch, about 48ft (14.6m) in span. The road back up from the harbour is steep and has a hairpin bend, (I prefer it large) HFF and a good weekend to all.

To the Mountain., HFF

Ben Loyal 764 m (2506.5 ft) is a Corbett which is the name given to a mountain in Scotland that is between 2,500 and 3000 feet in height, but it must also have a 500-foot drop on all sides, This was captured just outside the village of Tongue on the A838 which forms a part of the North Coast 500 around the top of Scotland, This is also just prior to the start of the 3.8 km (2.361 miles) causeway across the tidal Kyle of Tongue, I wish you all a HFF and a good weekend A large view would be appreciated. And finally a musical link from Kelly Clarkson, www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8qVmsO4aXk

Slow Burn.

This footbridge gives access to Farr Beach when the Clachan Burn is running fast. This image and the lack of water show how little rain has fallen in the area recently. The burn runs onto the Beach and then into Bettyhill Bay (out of image to the left) Pictures from the beach and bay to follow, Another image from the North Coast 500, Still having internet problems but will try and keep up, I think a large view is beneficial. HFF and a nice weekend.

Caithness Country

Harvest time in the lush Caithness with flowers in the hedgerows and cattle in the fields Typical countryside for the area on this bright but cloudy day, This was captured close to the coast and just south of Lybster, HFF and a lovely weekend. I really do recommend a large view.

Mind the Gap

This is the Northeastern Corner of the British Isles at Duncansby Head, and this is Geo of Sclaites, a vast crevice in the cliffs which are around 64 meters high and provide nest sites for many birds, Including, Puffins, Guillemots, Razorbills, kittiwakes, Fulmars and many Gulls. The water is the Pentland Firth. A large view may be beneficial The folk on the cliff top are possibly a little careless, so another tenuous link from Man Overboard, www.youtube.com/watch?v=E6GIKA3hYlo HFF and a good weekend.
