I have always preferred my moving water shots to look similar to this one above but have always been told by "experts" they should be like DSC1593 and others in this batch.
I would appreciate your opinion or comments on which give the best impression of motion and the sheer force of water.

Hi Greg, I did wonder why you placed so many photos of essentially the same thing here. As for your question on preferences: Traditionally, I like most people, have always tried to take my pictures as sharp as possible and so took these at high speed to get every drop of water. However, over the last 3 or four years and having bought a ND filter especially for the job, I also take many with very long shutter speeds now. This, I think gives a much more 'artistic' impression rather than a true slit second record. My personal preference of yours are the slow shutter speed shots of 1590 & 1560 however because you have not compensated quite enough for the longer speeds you have let a little too much light in, resulting in them both being over-exposed and so, actually this 1594 is in fact your best photo. Phew!

Hi Herb, a very comprehensive reply I must say, thank you.
I only asked what was peoples preferences because I had been told by allegedly more competent photographers that I should always use a long shutter speed for moving water, now, like you I have invariably gone for the sharpest image and still believe that it gives the best impression of reality rather than a "artistic" impression.
Thanks again for the comment, I shall continue to use both long and short shutter speeds depending on whether I am feeling artistic or being a realist!!
