Yellow squash vine heading across the lawn. This shot is at 12:30 in the afternoon after basking in the sun for hours. The leaves return to normal in the late afternoon. March 2019.

Hi Graham

Very Interesting couple of pictures.
My guess is simply that the leaves dry up in the heat!
Water required!

Best Wishes, and a good weekend

Pam and Peter, it was doing this each sunny day. We watered it a lot one morning but still had a similar result so my theory is that the vine doesn't have a large enough 'pipe' to supply the leaves which are a long way from the roots.

It didn't though it did grow about 50% longer. When the weather became cooler it stopped growing. There weren't many fruit and It never grew any mature one though they were edible sliced and stir-fried.
