The local government here plans to get rid of around 400 mature eucalypt trees, bulldoze up some 20 ft high walls to make this genetly sloping park into a flood mitigation site which would prevent 8 properties from damage in a 1/100 year flood. They don't appear open to the idea of increasing the capacity of the channel and culverts further downstream where the problem occurs.

The local govt here calls itself 'The Garden City'.
