Mum's 88th Birthday

Barbara 16 December 1927 - 13 January 2016 My bright and beautiful Mum passed away peacefully at 2 am, Wednesday 13th January 2016, age 88. We will always love you and you will be in our hearts forever. If only we could turn back time.

TSC Scavenger hunt 38 something from your childhood When I was a child, and young girl, we had several holidays in Jersey, in the Channel Islands. Above, me with my first camera, and an earlier photo, with my Mother and I on the left, and my friend Wendy, on the right, who joined us on one holiday. Both photos taken near the same wall, possibly in St Helier.

Mum at Fish River Canyon. One of our most memorable holidays. Trip from Cape Town in South Africa, driving though the Namib Desert to Windhoek and Swakopmund. South West Africa now Namibia. The Fish River Canyon is the largest canyon in Africa, as well as the second most visited tourist attraction in Namibia. It features a gigantic ravine, in total about 100 miles (160 km) long, up to 27 km wide and in places almost 550 meters deep. The Fish River is the longest interior river in Namibia. It cuts deep into the plateau which is today dry, stony and sparsely covered with hardy drought-resistant plants. The river flows intermittently, usually flooding in late summer; the rest of the year it becomes a chain of long narrow pools. The little dog was my Mum's, reminding her of her Westie "Lizzie", see PiP, and it was then treasured by my Dad. Later, my Dad, then aged 101, won the white bear in a raffle, and he named it "Lizzie", and wanted me to have it. They are both now my treasured mementos. In loving memory Scavenger Hunt

Bromeliad, native to Brazil. This was in a pot and we planted it in the garden a couple of weeks ago. It likes its new home and has produced four new flowers, which I only noticed on 23rd December. I took photos on 23rd and 24th, and liked this one best. For Mum :-) TSC New... Make it into Art!
