Morning Feast
Rainbow Lorikeet on the Golden Penda in the Noosa hinterland, Queensland, Australia.
I was very lucky that the Golden Penda is so attractive to the native birds that this Lorikeet stayed around for a while.
These aptly named beautiful Australian birds, the Rainbow Lorikeets, parrots, have incredibly brightly coloured feathers, and a distinctive screeching call.
In Noosa they fly between the Noosa River and the Hinterland feeding on the rich variety of flowering/fruiting trees and shrubs.

Eastern Great Egret (Ardea alba modesta) White Heron
Fisherman's friend. This Egret is very tame and has been receiving fish snacks from local fishermen for quite some time.
Chaplin Park, Noosa River, Queensland.
The Eastern Great Egret (Ardea alba modesta), a white heron in the genus Ardea, is a subspecies of the Great Egret (A. alba). It was first described by British ornithologist John Edward Gray in 1831.
The Eastern Great Egret can be distinguished from other white egrets and herons in Asia and Australia by its very long neck, one and a half times as long as its own body.
The egret breeds across Australia but only rarely in the southwest of the continent or dry interior. The largest colonies within Australia are in the Top End and Channel Country, which can number several thousand pairs. Colonies in the southeast of Australia can number several hundred pairs. The bird is an uncommon autumn and winter visitor to Tasmania.

Purple Tiger
Noosa, Queensland
Chili Pepper “Purple Tiger” is an amazingly beautiful small purple chilli plant.
This extremely attractive plant produces small tear drop shaped fruit turning purple when ripe. The foliage is often tri-coloured, green, purple and white.
Peppers are somewhat larger than regular jalapeño, but with the same thick walls and fiery heat. Great for use in salsas and would be very attractive pickled with a mixture of other jalapeño colours
This unusual ornamental plant will lighten up even the dullest greenhouse. The fruits can be used to spice up many dishes and are a good source of vitamin C.

Joey and Mum
On the Golf Course
Australian PGA Golf 13-16 December 2012, at the Pro Am Day 12 December.
Coolum, Queensland, Australia.
'Kangaroos usually have one young annually. The young kangaroo, or joey, is born alive at a very immature stage, when it is only about 2 cm long and weighs less than a gram. Immediately after birth it crawls up the mother's body and enters the pouch. The baby attaches its mouth to one of four teats, which then enlarges to hold the young animal in place. After several weeks, the joey becomes more active and gradually spends more and more time outside the pouch, which it leaves completely between 7 and 10 months of age.'
