Joe's Waterhole Est 1891
|
|
|
There is a lot of history and family tradition at Joe’s Waterhole Hotel. This historic hotel as it stands today was once the Commercial, which was rebuilt in 1926 after a fire swept through Eumundi in 1924. In 1962 Joe Whiting took over ownership when he swapped his sugar-cane farm in Maroochydore for the hotel. It became known colloquially as Joe’s Waterhole and was officially renamed in 1987.

Noosa Hinterland, Queensland.
It is quite unusual to see a real koala in the wild although friends of ours in Maleny have seen some in their gum trees. Sadly their numbers are dwindling.

17.28 Lucky to see a pink sunset in the Noosa Hinterland in Queensland. View to Noosa Hill and Laguna Bay.
The sunrises are usually better as this view is facing North East, but sometimes the sunset casts a glow like this.

The Sunday Market is there today, so I captured a few typical scenes there. The Marina sign, Information Centre, Fish Market, boats including the Noosa Queen and a Pelican in flight.

The Imperial Lionheart Hotel

|
Lion closeup in Note on this image.
The historic hotel, which first opened in 1911, has been reborn as The Imperial Lionheart Hotel, famous as the home of Eumundi Lager.
This stage of renovations includes a new ground floor bar and bistro and continues the Imperial theme designed in honour of King Richard I, better known as Richard the Lionheart.

From the early 1850s, almost all the area in the vicinity of the Eumundi district was part of three cattle runs - Canando, Yandina and North Kenilworth.
Eumundi, with the railway and the road to the north passing through it, developed as an important centre of the timber and dairying industry.
