They are surprisingly well camouflaged, and disappear easily into the foliage.

Be still my beating heart. Oh MY what a spectacular picture of this spectacular bird! My husband and I were amazed to find out how common these stunning birds are--at least in Sydney and Cairns! Everywhere! We just loved seeing them.

Thanks Janet. We are blessed with such amazing native birds. When they are engrossed in feeding, they don't hop around quite so much. You still have to be patient to have the right focus.

Thanks Val. The birds come when the callistemons flower, and they do that a few tims each year. These were almost trees, amazing display of flowers and the lorikeets were pretty active the whole time we were there.

I’m sure you get used to seeing this riotous colour but it’s very striking and strange to me. Amazing to see.
