Happy Wednesday Wall!

Happy Wednesday Wall!
Prince Arthur Towers (1968, Uno Prii), Toronto.

This is the west elevation. The two PiPs at top left show the south elevation, which is somewhat less stark.

Interesting images and building, John. You summed it up in one word though - "stark". Slightly belated HWW.

Striking, if, as you say, stark. It wouldn't be half so interesting if it weren't for the curves, IMHO.

Thanks, George. This wall is effectively a buttress. Apparently improvements in concrete-forming technology allowed Prii to make tall buttress more easily. The base is much broader, too, That made protecting buildings against wind cheaper. This building is a series of eight buttresses with apartments in between.

Thanks, Bob. As I mentioned to George, this wall is much wider at the bottom. It's a buttress. Apparently improvements in concrete-forming technology allowed Prii to make tall buttress more easily. That made protecting buildings against wind cheaper. This building is a series of eight buttresses with apartments in between.
