myself backpacking in the '80s
This is unusual for me, but I couldn't resist sharing this low-res photo of me on a backpacking trek in the Great Smokies in the '80s. Another Roadside Attraction is a fun novel by Tom Robbins. (I'm a natural blonde.) The big piece of wood is the chainsawed bole of a huge tree that had fallen across the trail.

This makes me think of Wild, by Cheryl Strayed. Do you still have the log, like the Log Lady?
And it’s always a good idea to carry a sink with you, to wash your clothes in, and throw at the bears. Wow!
