Cut-paper collage created for Kollage Kit theme "New Year's Resolutions."

This collage is not art. It's an announcement of one of the first New Year's resolutions I've ever taken seriously. It's a chance to tell my friends on ipernity that my output of collages will go down somewhat (I don't know how much), in order to focus on writing my autobiographical novel.

In case you've ever wondered why my avatar is Elsa Lanchester as "The Bride of Frankenstein," I'll just say this: I myself do not know why. One of the driving questions of my book is trying to figure that out. =laugh=

There is something wonderful about the coiffure of the Frankenstein Bride. A signifier of an idiosyncratic inner life. I like this collage it has an improvised feel, a kind of letting go...Go with it.

Thanks, Steve. What most people don't know about Elsa Lanchester's coiffure in that flick is that with the exception of the two white waves, held in place with bobby pins, that is her own hair. She had naturally curly red hair, so all they had to do to make it puff out like that was to braid it while wet, let it dry, then tease it out. A signifier of a powerful spiritual life, as well!

Good luck with the new project, F.I. I've only dabbled in writing, but dialed it way back so I could return to playing around in spaces like this. Sometimes I really miss it.

Also, I don't know how you do it, but your pieces are always so dynamic and satisfying to study. I bet your writing will be a treat, too.
