The park road had just opened for the season and the animals had not yet been scared away from it by the traffic. They were not plentiful, but they were visible with their newborns.

How very lovely. We've seen them in Jasper - the young ones, that is - but we only saw them from a huge distance in Denali like little white dots on the slopes of the mountains.

We were very fortunate to have seen so many animals up close. Most visitors to Denali see them only from afar, according to our bus driver. In the winter, the road is closed and are used as paths by the animals. Where the middle portion of the park road had just opened, the animals had not shied away from it yet.
