Black Bear - Anchorage, Alaska.
We were driving in a woody section of Anchorage, Alaska in the vicinity of a triathlon, when a mother bear and two cubs ran in front of our car and into the woods. I was not fast enough with my camera to get a good shot of the mother bear, but one of the cubs was curious and watched me from a tree near the road. He eventually climbed very high into the tree. His mother had disappeared by then, but I could hear that she was close. The people running the triathlon decided that she was a smart bear that did not pose a danger to the bicyclists and runners.
