A quiet canal

Murano, Italy, which is across the lagoon from Venice, has been a center of glass making since the 13th century, when the industry was moved from Venice due to the risk of fire and the noxious fumes. It was the main glass producing center in Europe during the 15th and 16th centuries and it still produces beautiful artistic glass today.
