Le château de Ferrières en Brie (XIXe siècle) se situe en bordure d'une grande forêt acquise par Rothschild pour y implanter sa propriété. Pour le prestige et sur le conseil de son jardinier en chef, il fait planter 96 séquoias géants sur une distance de 730 mètres, constituant l'Allée aux Lions qui conduit au parc du château par la Porte des Lions. C'est parmi l'une des grandes allées de séquoias de par le monde. Elle ambitionne de devenir l'école de référence internationale de l'Excellence à la française. Galas et réceptions y sont organisés. Visite non autorisées. Église Saint-Rémy de Ferrières-en-Brie Construction : XIIIe siècle Classement : Monument Historique en 1847 Architecture : d'un plan simple, l'église comprend des vitraux du XIIIe siècle. Le clocher actuel fut elevé au XVIIIe siècle. Le pignon central de la façade occidentale est séparé du demi-pignon nord par une tourelle d'escalier peu commune.

+ demonstrative PiPs The Romanesque co-cathedral of St John (Baptist) of Valletta was built between 1573 and 1577 by the Knights of the Order of St John of Jerusalem to the designs of the Maltese military architect Ġlormu Cassar. The exterior of the cathedral is built in the typical mannerist style of its architect Girolamo Cassar (PiP #1). The portal is flanked by Doric columns supporting an open balcony from which the Grand Master used to address the people on important occasions. The extremely & wonderfully ornate interior (PiPs #2 to 7) was extensively decorated by Mattia Preti, a Calabrian artist and knight, at the height of the Baroque period. Preti designed the intricate carved stone walls and painted the vaulted ceiling and side altars with scenes from the life of John the Baptist. It can be seen that the artist skilfully created an illusion of three-dimensionality through his use of shadows and placement. The Maltese limestone, which gives its colour to the façade of the building (as to much of the city's historic buildings) in which the cathedral is built, lends itself particularly well to such complex sculpture. The floor of the church, which is made entirely of marble, consists of cenotaphs depicting 405 knights of the Order of St John of Jerusalem. The church has eight chapels, each representing a hospitable language. Many renowned craftsmen contributed to the splendour of the interior decoration. The painting "The Beheading of St. John the Baptist" (1608 - PiP #8) by Caravaggio (1571-1610) is the most famous work in the church. One of the painter's masterpieces, the largest canvas he painted and one of the few he signed. The painting is displayed in the Oratory for which it was painted. La rose qui a vu le décès de ma mère il y a juste 3 ans et qui est à nouveau précoce cette année en avril. Tout un symbole... Un doux, délicat moment suggéré par mon amie Héléna et qui convient parfaitement à l'ambiance de ma photo, je trouve : le très émouvant et interpellant Adagio de la Symphonie en Sol mineur op.11 d'Otto Olsson, compositeur Suédois (1879-1964) : www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUho-xD0xxw&t=1296s Ses quelques accents mahlériens ne font pas oublier une expression très personnelle, aussi romanesque qu'exigeante, vigoureuse et sans concession. D'une rare beauté et d'une dimension trop méconnue, vraiment. Otto Olsson fut l'un des plus grands organistes de son époque, nous apprend wikipedia (écoutez ce très profond prélude et fugue : www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxF_Psrxyuk) , fort de connaissances solides en contrepoint - tout à fait audibles - alliées à une grande affinité pour la musique française d'orgue ( ma préférée avec la production allemande incontournable ). Il influença nombre de musiciens suédois. Son œuvre liturgique ainsi que ses ouvrages pédagogiques sur l'art du chant choral et du psaume font référence. Je lui trouve personnellement un modernisme (début 20ème) alliant un post-romantisme habité, authentique, à une éloquence finalement assez rare.
