The great sharpness debate! Flickr vs. Ipernity vs. 500px

The great sharpness debate! Flickr vs. Ipernity vs. 500px
As promised, I have combined screenshots of the website's presentation of an identical upload of mine. It shows that, yes, Flickr has increased the sharpness of the foto compared to what can be seen on ipernity. But that has a price, of course: more artefacts. 500px obviouosly goes a different direction, but that's all fine with me. I stick with ipernity!

This comparison can be downloaded, if you wish.

I agree with the observations on notes. And how about compared to what you see with your default photo viewer on your computer?

I also agree! I must say that when I view my photos in Lightroom, they seem to have more contrast and the colours pop more. On Ipernity (white background) colours often seem flat, viewed on black the problem mostly disappears.

I have compared and it looks very much like the presentation on 500px.

I also use dark skin which I can toggle off and on. I really like it for the photos but reading and writing text sucks!

Hi Erhard,

A very interesting debate, but we must also put this in the perspective of the resolution of the computer monitor on which it is viewed. (or the printer which prints it..)
Consider a 4000 X 3000 pixel photo on a 2000 X 1500 pixel monitor....

Best wishes, and a good weekend.

OK, yes, this is why I have chosen a pic which I uploaded identically and viewed on the same screen in the same size.

First of all, a good image Erhard. I've peered and enlarged, peered some more, and see little difference on my monitor. Somehow I think there are more pressing issues for ipernity than what would equate to a minor change in editing at most. Have a great weekend.

Thank you Andy. All in all, I don't hink the debate is getting anywhere. The differences are minor, sometimes negligible and can be compensated for in advance in postprocessing or even after upload with picmonkey, which is a USP for ipernity.
And finally, what really counts is the community ...
