Sphalerite
A scanner photo of sphalerite - zinc sulphide, ZnS, from Nenthead, Cumbria. The mineral specimen was placed straight on the scanner glass. I guess the bright blues, reds and pinks are interference colours produced by the double refraction/reflection through the crystal laminae.
L-R size is about 7 cm.
