In Antioquía, the fruit harvests, such as apples and quinces, were not doing well, since there were difficulties in accessing the market. The first step to make Antioquía more successful was to raise awareness among the population through workshops on fine arts, with experts who instructed the families of the town. Then, an international competition was held to choose the artistic design that the district would carry. Peruvian painter Enrique Bustamante was the winner. Thus, in 2004, the artist painted Antioquia. He began with the schools, the church, and the community hall, and continued with the houses and various public spaces. Also, as part of the economic development initiative, the inhabitants of Antioquia were trained in tourist services, to turn the town into an attractive destination for travelers. And they did an incredible job!
