Sailing away...

Snowy egret sitting on a board at the edge of the lagoon.

Was he actually pushing the raft off with his beak, or was he just poking around for a snack? Either way, it started floating and he had to scramble to hop on. :)

Snowy egrets on a raft, Malibu Lagoon. The first egret was just sitting at the edge of the water, minding his own business, when the second one came along and hopped on, setting the raft in motion... They made it halfway across the lagoon, occaisionally dipping their beaks in the water to steer (or possibly they were just fishing?), before one got bored and flew off; I got distracted by the jumping fish and some red-winged blackbirds, and never did find out if the other egret made it all the way to the other side...
