Sundial, Paternoster Square

This is the interesting but peculiarly useless 'calendar sundial' on the new London Stock Exchange in Paternoster Square, London.
It doesn't tell the time.
If you look at it at noon GMT it will give you an estimate of the date.
Sorry about the poor contrast, but the engraved lettering is rather shallow, and the sun is directly on it.
