Although no longer a ferry port, Kyle pier is still busy with cargo ships, along with a few of the smaller cruise ships. The Shore Support Base for the BUTEC range also hosts RMAS vessels. The small fishing fleet, now mainly hunting prawns, is split between the railway pier and the adjacent fishing pier.
