Ambassador Travel 897 (A897 KCL) in Mildenhall - 19 Mar 1985 (11-18A)

Tuesday 19 March 1985 - Ambassador Travel was formed when the Eastern Counties Omnibus Company was split into smaller businesses in the lead up to privatisation of the National Bus Company. At its formation the coach fleet comprised vehicles that had been in the ECOC fleet. Plaxton Paramount 3200 bodied Leyland Tiger TRCTL11/3R LT897 (A897 KCL) was new to ECOC in November 1983 and was seen here at King Street, Mildenhall when working the 0605 Norwich to Bristol service 747. This duty involved the coach working a Norwich-Bristol-Norwich round trip within the same day – around 450 miles. A number of the passengers boarding the coach here would be travelling to work, maybe at Newmarket or possibly Cambridge and they were buying tickets from the driver.
