Wednesday 24 July 2002 - First in a set of four photos which show Austurleið-SBS 509 (VP 305) on the F26 road approaching Nýidalur when working the southbound Mývatn- Landmannalaugar service operated three days a week between 15 July and 20 August in 2002. Nýidalur is approximately mid-way between available fuel stations, 110km going south or 133km going north, and comprises two accommodation cabins and one toilet/shower cabin. The road crosses the central highlands of Iceland and is only open for a few weeks in summer. At the beginning of the summer the earth is re-scraped to expose a dirt harder surface. Continued.........
