This beautiful mare ran away from home up the hill from us, and went for an adventure in our pond garden in winter snows a few years ago. She fell through the snow covered ice, and managed to get herself out, but left the pond garden looking like a battle had taken place. I was mystified by all the broken ice and hoof-marks all over the place, until her owner knocked on our door a day or so later, to apologise on behalf of her mare, for wrecking our skating rink!
