Coxton Tower

I decided to call on the home of the owner, Malcolm Christie, and ask his permission to look round this magnificent old four storey fortified townhouse built in around 1590. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coxton_Tower) Malcolm was delighted to show us round. It is remarkably well preserved given its age, and having been unoccupied since the last war. It is unusual in having vaulted stone ceilings on every floor, and a stone roof. The Christie's grandfather was a tea planter in Sri Lanka - a cousin owns the largest private rhododendron collection in the UK nearby on his estate at Blackhills - a collection started by the grandfather bringing rhododendrons back from Asia. canmore.org.uk/site/16525/coxton-tower
