Green weeds! Having a problem with duckweed - v.difficult to get rid of. Tiny little leaves which float on the surface in a carpet. I am hoping that changing the pH of the water by adding Aquaplancton will make it less likely to proliferate. I don't want to use weedkiller anywhere near the pond.

Made for a lovely photo, didn't it? And I absolutely agree with not using poisons. For the most part I let weeds be. I make an exception only for nettles, brambles and a plant that my husband is allergic to (and I just pull them by hand, no weedkiller). In their case, I think it's a matter of self-defence ;) Nettles are also good to eat, so rather than pulling them, I harvest them (using gloves, of course!) and make risotto or nettle omelettes.
