Goldcrest
This morning this little Goldcrest was hovering about like a hummingbird in the orchard, and then put on this skittering dance performance on the window feeder. I suspect it was performing for the benefit of its reflection - most peculiar behaviour...Having looked it up I now understand that a Goldcrest's hovering, hummingbird-like flight characteristics are for hoovering up insects. They are the smallest bird in the UK also apparently - small enough to be dragged along by a dragon fly if they try and take one on!
