Stunned chaffinch...

Death comes to us all, but for this beautiful finch it was half an hour or so after these images were taken - head-on collision with a plate glass window, breaking a wing and leaving him concussed. He revived temporarily with a few sips of water, sitting quietly in my hand for quite a while, before just slipping away...
