New Tulip Bed

New Tulip Bed
Given my prediliction for the impetuous, on reflection building a fifty metre long flowerbed, just because spare rocks were around, and six tons of sieved topsoil had been ordered from our friendly local farmer, without thinking of what was going to go into it, was – well – impetuous.
However, fortuitously, J Parkers Autumn 2012 WHOLESALE Catalogue arrived a week or two ago. Hey Presto! The last of 750 tulip bulbs went in today. Along with a couple of hundred snowdrops, still to be delivered, that should cover late winter and Spring. Forty rose bushes (Absolutely Fabulous, Queen Elizabeth, Fragrant Cloud, and Glenfiddich) will take care of summer, with some Echinacea, Delphiniums, hollyhocks, Campanula, Centaurea, Astilbes, Buddleia, sweet peas, Californian poppies, and Cerastium.
Venison may well be served if the roe deer show any interest in feeding on any of it…
