Good guess. There's even a horizontal section at the bottom so the place where the arrow attaches to the shaft will fit without making the entire slot wider. Oh, never mind, I'm being a warfare nerd. Haha!

Notice the fan-shaped cut at the bottom - you've probably figured out that it allows aiming downward and side-to-side. Get 'em right between the eyes.
