Cowslips behind the wire (HFF everyone)

HFF 13/2/2022
The location is the site of the now partially closed Forestry England, Wykeham Nursery. Although some of the buildings are still in use, the production of sapling trees from seedlings has ceased. A small number of staff have been retained for other forestry work. I shall miss watching the process of preparing the ground, planting out the seedling and eventually gathering up the saplings for distribution to various forestry plantations around the north of England and south of Scotland.

It seems a real shame that the nursery is partially closed, and I imagine the rest of it will eventually go the same way which will be sad. They will probably find it to be not economically viable to keep on a big site. I hope the rest of the staff have found employment elsewhere
Doug Shepherd club has replied to Ecobird clubThe nursey itself is fully closed, the only work the very few Forestry employees are doing is in the forest itself. The land that the nursey is on, is I think, owned by a local estate. I have no idea what will happen to it, perhaps used for agriculture or forestry, who knows. How about a native species woodland to help with climate chance!
Enjoy your day, Doug
