Again I notice those wonderful colors on the mountainsides...are they snow-covered in winter Doug?

Thanks very much Tanja. The mountains and fells of this area of Cumbria will have a covering of snow in the winter, depending on their height this snow can lie for several months. I imagine with the effects of global warming the amount of snow will become less in the future.

a beautiful photo of some delightful countryside. in 2015 i got to be in cumbria and had a shepard respond to my question in full cumbrian dialect. needless to say i didn't understand a word he said, but i love hearing him talk!

Thanks very much raingirl, glad that you like it. I don't know how it is in the USA but here in the UK there are many local dialects. Even within a relatively small geographical area there can be subtle differences in the dialect. For example, the dialect in Whitby is slightly different to that in the Scarborough area - they are only about 17 miles apart.
