Die Frauenschuh-Orchidee im Bild ist Paphiopedilium superbiens. Der Gattungsname Paphiopedilium leitet sich ab von Paphia (in Zypern der Beiname für die griechische Göttin Aphrodite) und Pedilon (griech. für Pantoffel, Sandale).
