Robert Christopherson was educated at the University of Wisconsin before entering the United States Air Force, and represented his country at the Tokyo Olympics in 1964. He was born in Minnesota in 1936. Christopherson became United States national amateur boxing light heavyweight champion in 1961 (whilst at university) and again in 1964.
