flowers from Ruth!

I was admitted as an emergency case to Latrobe Regional Hospital with what turned out to be sigmoid diverticulitis and spent three days there. On the second day TWO nurses came in with big grins on their faces and presented me with these gorgeous flowers! Clearly, delivery of flowers this lovely is an uncommon event there. They looked like they were bringing me a surprise delivery of a basket of puppies. I was talking on the phone to Ad when they came in, and I exclaimed, "oh! are these flowers from you?!" and the nurses handed me the card, which said they were, in fact, from my darling friend Ruth way over in California. Ad emailed Ruth to say she had put him to shame, and Ruth emailed him back saying, "I am afraid I must tell you that I am, in fact, the best friend! You can step up the game all you want, but you will never catch up with me!" Ha!
