transport in Myanmar

As we left the Green Elephant my rental bicycle's chain came off. It was then that we also realised that our bikes had no headlights, which was not so strange as a lot of the traffic in Myanmar drove at night without headlights. Families of mum, dad, toddler and baby would be on a motor scooter, driving along on roads without street lighting, and without using any headlights. It was terrifying enough to think of them doing that, but also terrifying to walk along those roads (let alone hindered by useless bicycles) knowing that at any time you could be hit by a family on a motorcycle. Cars also did it sometimes. O la vache.
