Sagua ja Grande - the abandoned roundhouse
The "April 9th Railway Workshop" of Sagua la Grande was founded in 1905. It belongs to the "Central Railway Company".

Oh, what a scene, what a great pity. I don't know how free this place is for you to wander around and take photos but if it is truly abandoned then I think it should be made into a tourist attraction of such history and heritage. I know that many British people would pay to visit such places very happily. I cannot believe that they would simply abandon that blue engine!
Many thanks for sharing. A great series here Berny. A ⭐ for the series.

Keep safe, Herbert

It's an abandoned part of a huge wagon workshop, which is still partly in operation. Officially it's not accessable, but I asked the right guy friendly and he let us in. Thanks Herb - stay safe too!

On my journey through Cuba this year I visited several such places. Some totally abandoned and lost, some still in operation, some converted to a museum. Here's another abandoned roundhouse: www.ipernity.com/doc/berny/50155620 Another very interesting (more than this one) workshop will follow later. It's in Hershey (Camilo Cienfuegos), where they repair mainly old electrical railcars!

Another great series, Berny. I could imagine how interesting it must be to wander around places such as this. I presume that the sheet iron from the roofs has been removed by hurricanes.

I do love roundhouses , this one is exceptional and so is your capture of it. I have seen a few in Australia but most have a guided tour to view it, or locked up so are inaccessible.
You must have been like a pig in "it" with so many of these buildings to choose from!!
Have a good week Berny
