Boarischa Krautmo club has replied to Andy Rodker clubIt is a very old border separating Bavaria and Bohemia, existing for more than 1000 years, see this maps:
de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bayern#/media/Datei:Bayern_um_788.png
de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nordgau_(Bayern)#/media/Datei:Nordgau_um_1035.svg
On the other hand this border was always permeable, there were German settlemets east of the border and Slavic settlements in the West. In 1355 king Wenzel/Vaclav of Bohemia became Emporer of the Holy Roman Empire.
My native town (for sure very Bavarian) was in the 18th century ruled by a Bohemian princes dynasty - and vice versa Bavarian dynasties had possession in Bohemia.
Funny thing, look at this historic map:
geoportal.bayern.de/bayernatlas/?lang=de&topic=bvv&bgLayer=historisch&E=764825.55&N=5483606.10&zoom=12&catalogNodes=11,122&layers=bf9ff4ed-62c7-4935-9318-d5251108acc3-layer-freistaat_bayern_flaeche&layers_visibility=false
you can see plots of land with the Bavarian-Bohemian border running over them, but not dividing them....
gues you're right with mixed and up-and-down history....
