Why Catholic figures always look so grief-stricken ? A question I always asked myself, smiling figures would be more attractive ... IMHO, but I see this as an atheist. If I had to believe in any god it should be a smiling one.

So… let's be logical, if a god created men and gave men the capacity to laugh and then declares it is a sin… the guy is sadistic…
But all this is men’s interpretation, a way to dominate others and not be afraid of death…

it'S all about temptataion, sin and sainthood ;-)))
god created men able to laugh to give them a chance to become saint by not-laughing ;-)))
giving consideration to all ways to become a saint (beeing crucified, boiled, roasted, shot, eaten by lions....) it's not the worst way ;-)))))

Simpler without any god, that’s sure. Hope euthanasia will be legal when my time comes, otherwise I will have to find another way … meanwhile let’s enjoy, drink, eat, f…, my only limit is do no harm to others.

Beautifully captured Markus. The richness of colour and opulence of the clothing with all the bright gilding makes it look as if this is very new yet the pedestals seem quite old. Maybe the figures have been restored?
