my wife, Maria da Nazaré, in the historical centre of Guimarães

Light goes in the cable car upwards the cross

within the Chapel of Penha
our bodies perspire trees down the slope

a bit later
in the tourist mini-train we travel through stones giving birth to saints
hermits
and taverns

everything beautiful

when we go downwards the light remains at the mountain

and
in the comfort of the room at the Guest House of Santa Marinha
we are glad of syllables
smiles
and silence.

A luz sobe no teleférico em direcção à cruz

dentro da Ermida da Penha
nossos corpos suam árvores pela encosta

um pouco mais tarde
no mini-trem turístico viajamos por pedras que pariram santos
eremitas
e tascas

tudo muito belo

quando descemos a luz fica na montanha

e nós
no conforto do quarto da Pousada de Santa Marinha
contentes de sílabas
sorrisos
silêncio.
