ODE TO THE PRINTER EPSON STYLUS DX4800

for over twenty years
this machine has been printing my ideas
it is very independent
self-maintaining and self-testing
it just needs to replace its ink cartridges
from time to time
and when it jams it stops and warns

clearly

my printer works better than my thought
never has doubts
keeps the right working rhythm
and when the print is finished
it stays on standby
on the other hand I've many doubts and uncertainties
I write on impulse at random
and when I feel I've finished the text
I keep my open mouth with my throat dry
waiting for the fly
that enters into the intimacy
of my sleep

esta máquina imprime as minhas ideias
há mais de vinte anos
é muito independente
auto-mantém-se e testa-se a si própria
só precisa de substituir os tinteiros
de tempos a tempos
e quando encrava pára e avisa

claramente

a minha impressora funciona melhor do que o meu pensamento
nunca tem dúvidas
mantém um ritmo certo a trabalhar
e quando a impressão termina
fica em espera
por outro lado eu tenho muitas dúvidas e incertezas
escrevo por impulsos ao acaso
e quando julgo que termino o texto
fico de boca aberta com a garganta seca
à espera da mosca
que entra na intimidade
do meu sono
